JIYO Wins World Championships
The Danish parkour & freerunning team Team JIYO has always won medals at the World Championships in parkour and freerunning.
Over the years JIYO has stood either at the top of the podium or right beside it whenever the parkour world championships are held. The results show that Danish parkour and freerunning are among the best in the world.
What does it take to win a world championship in parkour?
It takes talent to run away with the title of the world’s best. At a parkour world championship, athletes show their best lines in front of the judges. That is why preparation is just as important as the run itself. The judges assess in many categories, including:
- Flow
- Degree of difficulty
- Technique
- Creativity
- etc.
Flow is about how smoothly and coherently the athlete moves through the course. Difficulty is about how demanding the tricks and lines are. Technique shows how precisely and controlled the movements are performed. Creativity is about finding your own solution to the course.
As a parkour athlete you need all four. That is why our athletes train strength, balance and mental focus. They also train to read a course quickly and choose the right line.
JIYO athletes at the world championships
Among the JIYO athletes who have done well are:
